The Enveloped Yaomo series (translated from the Chinese “Feng Mo Bang” or “Demon Sealing List”) is a modern, dark-fantasy reimagining of classical Chinese mythology.

The concept and characters are primarily drawn from the 16th-century epic novel Fengshen Yanyi (known as Investiture of the Gods or Creation of the Gods), which chronicles a great war between gods, immortals, and demons during the fall of the Shang Dynasty.

🌩️ The Origin of “Thunderbolt” (Lei Zhenzi)

The character Thunderbolt is the series’ interpretation of Lei Zhenzi, a legendary figure in Chinese folklore.

  • Mythological Backstory: In the original legends, Lei Zhenzi was born from a celestial egg after a massive thunderclap and was adopted by King Wen of Zhou. He is traditionally a “bird-human hybrid” with wings known as the Wind and Thunder Wings.

  • The “Yaomo” Twist: The term Yaomo (妖魔) refers to demons and supernatural monsters. Nottaa Collections uses this concept to give the characters a more primal, monstrous, and “bio-organic” aesthetic than their traditional heavenly depictions.

📜 The Enveloped Yaomo Universe

Nottaa Collections has built an entire lore around this series, even including a full-color comic book in some sets to explain their specific version of the story.

  • The Conflict: The series centers on a world where the boundary between the divine and the demonic is blurred. Heroes like Thunderbolt are depicted as powerful warriors who must navigate a landscape filled with ancient spirits and sealed monsters.

  • Expanded Roster: Thunderbolt is part of a larger lineup that includes other figures from Chinese lore, such as Wukong (Journey to the West), the Cyan Lion, and the White Elephant.

🎨 Design Philosophy: “Ancient Myth meets Modern Tech”

The concept is a blend of historical iconography and high-end action figure engineering:

  • Traditional Elements: His weapons (the Hammer and Chisel) are direct references to the tools used by the God of Thunder to create lightning and thunderclaps.

  • Modern Innovation: The “concept” extends to the toy itself, using magnetic light-up technology and UV-reactive paint to simulate the mystical energy mentioned in the ancient texts.
