Marvel Legends – Executioner Build-A-Figure (BAF)
Description
The Marvel Legends Executioner Build-A-Figure (BAF) was released in late 2025 as part of a comic-inspired wave.1 This version of Skurge the Executioner is a significant upgrade over previous releases, specifically designed to match his classic, hulking Asgardian appearance from the Thor comics.
Below is a detailed breakdown of the figure’s features and the wave required to build him.
🛠️ Build-A-Figure Wave Breakdown

🎨 Product Features & Design
The 2025 Executioner BAF is designed to reflect Skurge’s heritage as the son of a Storm Giant and an Asgardian, giving him a massive, “tank-like” silhouette.
1. Sculpt and Scale
-
Massive Proportions: The figure stands roughly 7.5 to 8 inches tall, towering over standard 6-inch Marvel Legends. It features broad shoulders and heavily muscled arms with visible “textured” skin.
-
Comic-Accurate Armor: The sculpt includes a detailed chest plate with metallic-painted rivets and a layered “skirt” piece that mimics reinforced leather and mail.
-
Head Sculpt: The face captures Skurge’s signature grimace, featuring his bald head and the iconic blue facial tattoos (chevrons) extending from his eyes.
2. Premium Articulation
-
Pinless Tech: Following the 2025 standard, the figure utilizes pinless joints at the elbows and knees for a seamless visual look.
-
Range of Motion: Despite his bulk, the figure includes a ball-jointed torso (ab-crunch) and butterfly shoulders, allowing him to hold his signature axe with both hands in a dynamic overhead swing.
-
Stability: Large, flat-soled boots provide excellent balance for a figure of this weight.
3. Key Accessories (Included with BAF pieces)
-
The Blood Axe: A large, double-bladed weapon with a wood-grain texture on the handle and a weathered, metallic “silver-blue” finish on the blades.
-
Swappable Hands: Includes a pair of “weapon-gripping” hands and a pair of “closed fists” for brawling poses.
🏛️ Comparison: Comic vs. Movie Version
It is important to distinguish this BAF from the 2019 “Marvel 80th Anniversary” 2-pack version (with Hela).
-
Design: The BAF is strictly comic-based (classic blue/silver/black) whereas the 2-pack was the MCU Karl Urban version.
-
Size: The BAF is significantly bulkier and taller than the 2-pack version, reflecting his “Storm Giant” scale rather than human proportions.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the character known as the Executioner is Skurge, portrayed by Karl Urban in the 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok. While he begins the film as a comedic side character, he undergoes a significant redemption arc that concludes with one of the most heroic sacrifices in the franchise.
🎭 Character Background & Personality
Skurge is an Asgardian warrior who feels underappreciated and overlooked. Unlike the legendary warriors like Thor or the Warriors Three, Skurge is a “blue-collar” soldier seeking a sense of purpose and status.
-
The Opportunist: When Loki (disguised as Odin) banishes Heimdall, Skurge is appointed as the new guardian of the Bifrost. He uses this position not for duty, but to “collect stuff” from the Nine Realms and impress women.
-
The Reluctant Villain: When Hela returns to Asgard and kills the Einherjar (Asgard’s army), Skurge chooses to “bend the knee” rather than die. He becomes Hela’s personal enforcer, earning the title of Executioner.
-
Inner Conflict: Throughout his time serving Hela, Urban portrays Skurge with a deep sense of guilt. He is clearly uncomfortable with the slaughter of his own people but is initially too afraid to act against the Goddess of Death.
⚔️ Weapons and “My Stuff”
Skurge is famous for his unconventional mix of Asgardian and Earth-based weaponry:
-
Des and Troy: His most iconic weapons are a pair of M16 assault rifles he scavenged from “Tex-as” on Earth. He jokingly explains that when put together, they “Des-Troy.”
-
The Executioner’s Axe: After appointing him as her Executioner, Hela grants him a massive, double-bladed black axe. In the comics, this is known as the Bloodaxe, but in the movie, it serves as his primary melee weapon while serving Hela.
-
“Behold My Stuff”: Skurge keeps a collection of “treasures” from Earth, including a Shake Weight, various electronics, and his guns. This scene became a fan-favorite meme.
🛡️ The Heroic Sacrifice
Skurge’s character culminates in a scene inspired directly by one of the most famous moments in Marvel Comics history (Thor #362).
-
The Change of Heart: As the Asgardian refugees try to escape on a large freighter, Skurge hides among them in a civilian cloak, planning to flee. However, seeing Hela’s undead army attacking his people triggers his warrior spirit.
-
The Final Stand: Skurge pulls out “Des and Troy” and leaps from the ship, single-handedly gunning down waves of Hela’s Berserkers to clear a path for the refugees.
-
The Death of a Hero: After running out of ammunition, he uses his axe to continue the fight until Hela herself impales him with a Necrosword. His distraction allows the ship to escape, making him a savior of the Asgardian race.
🔍 Key Differences: Movie vs. Comics
-
The Enchantress: In the comics, Skurge is obsessed with the villainess Amora the Enchantress and does her bidding out of love. In the movie, his motivation is shifted to survival and a desire for recognition.
-
Origin: In the comics, he is half-Storm Giant, explaining his massive size and strength. In the movie, he appears to be a standard, albeit very skilled, Asgardian warrior.
