NECA [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles] – Shredder Clone & Mini Shredder (Mirage Comics)

Description

The NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Mirage Comics) – Shredder Clone & Mini Shredder Deluxe Set is a 7-inch scale action figure pack (approx. 7 inches / ~18 cm for the main clone, 2.8 inches / ~7 cm for Mini Shredder). Based directly on Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s original Mirage Studios comic arc (“Return to New York”), this release captures the Foot Clan’s grotesque bio-engineering experiments attempting to resurrect Oroku Saki using mutated worm colonies.

🎨 Sculpting, Comic Shading & Body Horror Aesthetics

• 4-Arm Multi-Limbed Sculpting: The primary Shredder Clone features a massive four-armed upper body buck with razor-sharp arm blades, spiked shoulder pauldrons, and gauntlet armor plated over raw, mutated muscle tissue.

• Heavy Mirage Ink Lines: Hand-painted with NECA’s signature comic-book cross-hatching and heavy black ink lines to mirror the gritty black-and-white indie comic aesthetic.

• Space Worm Mutagen Detailing: Recreates exposed organic muscle cuts and parasitic Space Worms bursting through armor plates and forearm joints.

• Mini Shredder Scale: Includes the compact, 2.8-inch Mini Shredder—a deformed, diminutive clone with a oversized helmet, squat proportions, and sinister red-and-black Foot Clan armor styling.

⚙️ Key Product Features & Engineering

• Multi-Arm Articulation System:

  • All four arms on the main Shredder Clone incorporate independent ball-jointed shoulders, elbow hinges, and wrist swivels for quad-weapon combat poses.

  • Deep waist crunch and hip articulation allow for low-slung, multi-bladed ninja combat stances.

• Modular Worm Attachments: Features removable forearm segments and plug-in Space Worm effect pieces to customize the level of biological decay on the figure.

🔍 Technical Specifications

The Shredder (Oroku Saki) is the primary antagonist of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. Created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, he debuted in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (1984) published by Mirage Studios. As the ruthless supreme leader of the Foot Clan, Shredder is a master ninjutsu practitioner whose lethal combat skills, spiked steel armor, and unyielding vengeance make him the ultimate arch-nemesis of Master Splinter and the Turtles.

🧬 Origin Story: Blood Feud, Mutagen, & The Foot Clan

While the character has been re-imagined across animated series, live-action films, and modern comics, his core origin remains rooted in a tragic feudal rivalry:

1. The Feud of Hamato Yoshi & Oroku Nagi (Classic Mirage Comic Canon)

• The Clan Rivalry: In Japan, Oroku Saki’s older brother, Oroku Nagi, competed against fellow Foot Clan ninja Hamato Yoshi for the love of a woman named Tang Shen. When Nagi attacked Tang Shen in a jealous rage, Hamato Yoshi stepped in and killed Nagi to protect her.

• Fleeing to New York: Fearing the consequences of killing a clan member, Yoshi and Tang Shen fled Japan and settled in New York City.

• Saki’s Vengeance: Oroku Nagi’s younger brother, Oroku Saki, swore vengeance. Training relentlessly, Saki rose through the ranks of the Foot Clan to become its deadliest assassin and took the title of The Shredder. Sent to lead the Foot Clan’s New York branch, Saki hunted down Hamato Yoshi and Tang Shen, murdering them both.

• The Mutation of Splinter & The Turtles: Yoshi’s pet rat, Splinter, escaped into the NYC sewers. Years later, after being exposed to TCRI mutagen alongside four baby turtles, Splinter raised Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo, training them in ninjutsu specifically to avenge Hamato Yoshi by defeating The Shredder.

2. Cloning & Parasitic Space Worms (Return to New York)

• In the original comic storyline, after being slain by the Turtles in issue #1, the Foot Clan attempted to bring Shredder back to life using secretive bio-engineering.

• By infusing Saki’s DNA with mutated parasitic Space Worms, the Foot produced unstable clones—ranging from grotesque four-armed monstrosities to diminutive mutated forms—before the Turtles destroyed the cloning vats once and for all.

🎨 Visual Design & Blade-Lined Armor

• Iconic Armor Silhouette: Wears heavy, Japanese-inspired samurai/ninja armor featuring razor-sharp curved blades along his shoulder pauldrons, gauntlets, shin guards, and helmet.

• The Kabuto Helmet & Menpo Mask: Wears an iconic metal Kabuto helmet paired with a chrome Menpo face mask that completely conceals his features, leaving only cold, menacing eyes visible.

• Purple Cape & Foot Colors: Styled with a flowing dark purple or crimson cape worn over dark grey/black body armor.

⚙️ Combat Mastery & Leadership

• Grandmaster Ninjutsu & Weapons Expert: Capable of single-handedly taking on all four Turtles at once. He is a master of hand-to-hand combat, dual ninjatō swords, throwing stars (shuriken), and clawed gauntlet strikes.

• Supreme Commander of the Foot Clan: Commands a vast global syndicate of elite ninja Enforcers, Foot Soldiers, tech engineers, and mutated henchmen (such as Bebop and Rocksteady in various adaptations).
